Speech therapy helps individuals feel more confident and less frustrated about speaking to others. People who have language issues can benefit socially, emotionally, and academically from speech therapy.

WAYS TO PRACTICE
SPEECH THERAPY AT HOME
LANGUAGE

Read a book aloud with your child & go over questions!
​- What do you think this book will be about?
- Why do you think that?
- What has happened so far in this story?
- What do you think will happen next?
- What was the book about?
- What happened to the main character?

Think of 5 adjectives (descriptive words) you see throughout the day and name a synonym and antonym of each.

Each day, think of 5 words in a category that have your speech sound in them: sports, fruits, vegetables, clothing, numbers, etc.

Name 3 different things that mean they are the same & find 3 different things where two things are different. (apple & orange: compare - both things you eat / contrast - different colors)
ARTICULATION

Think of 5 words each day that begin with your speech sound and try to say them correctly.

Think of 5 words each day that have your speech sound at the end and say them correctly.

Pick a word with your speech sound in it and say it 5 times before going to bed each night.

When you ride in the car, look for things that have your speech sound.

Name 3 animals that have your speech sound.

Take a walk outside. Name 2 things you see with your speech sound.

Look around your house, find 3 things in each room that have your speech sound.

Read a book and look for words that have your sound in them. Try to say the words correctly out loud.
